Keep your Bible open -- and even read it!

Don’t hide it away, give it some air and make it part of your daily life.

So many books stayed closed and on the shelf in most houses. Even our Bibles if we’re honest. So here’s a tip: leave your Bible open in your bedroom, somewhere you’ll see it daily, somewhere you can’t ignore it. We all struggle with reading our Bibles but we also all know that it’s part of the deal of journeying as a Christian that you get to know your Bible — and you do that best by reading it regularly.

This action isn’t about promising to have a daily ‘quiet time’ or using a certain brand of Bible study notes (although we’ve recommended a few below and we think a daily time where you step aside to listen, read and pray is a good thing!). This action is about making the Bible more a part of your everyday routine — simply by making sure it’s more visible (to you and others) so you can’t so easily forget about it.

This is something I’ve started doing and it’s helping me so much. It’s kinda cool just to be able to read a snippet here and a snippet there and before you know it you’ve read proverbs! Or whichever book you like!

i do this, it’s pretty satisfying, like even if i don’t completely understand what im reading (jeremiah at the moment!), i go to sleep feeling at peace with the lord

I know it says this isn’t about commiting to a daily time, but something I’ve found that really helps with doing this is using a ‘daily walk’ bible. It takes you through the bible 3 or 4 chapters at a time with some helpful notes on each section as well.

I must say I don’t always keep my Bible open but I make sure I always have a Bible with me where ever I go and sometimes there have been some interesting discussions. I think keeping my Bible open is my next challenge :)
