Bag yourself a role in your church, school, college or community

Don’t hang around for others to make changes, get stuck in yourself!

Volunteer yourself for roles within the life of your church, your school, your college or your community. Be brave, push boundaries. For instance, if all the stewards in your church have always been older people why don’t you offer to be one when the next vacancy comes up. And if you’re told you’re too young, ask why (politely). But it doesn’t have to be a steward in a church. There are all sorts of roles in your community and educational life that need doing. That’s the way society works best – with people volunteering to play a role. So get yourself in the mix by making sure you’re doing one or more of these roles! Even if they’ve not traditionally been done by a young person.
