Email your MP and get them to recognise the importance of the British Youth Council and Parliament

Mp-youth-voice

MPs are being asked in the House of Commons to show their support for Government consultation with young people and for British Youth Council! But has your MP said yes?

Sharon Hodgson, MP for Washington and Sunderland West, has put forward an ‘Early Day Motion’ (EDM) in the House of Commons for MPs to sign up to say they believe it is important to involve young people and youth representative organisations like the British Youth Council and UK Youth Parliament. It says this:

That this House recognises the important role of the UK Youth Parliament and British Youth Council in giving a voice to young people in the policy-making process; expresses deep concern that the Government has made significant changes to a number of schemes, including, but not limited to, Playbuilder, Building Schools for the Future, Youth Opportunity Fund and Child Trust funds, without seeking the views of young people; and calls on the Government to engage fully with representatives of young people in future on matters which directly affect them.
Sharon Hodgson MP.
